I wrote ‘An Attempt’ after hearing the story of my friend Aaliyah who has walked through the challenges of suicidal ideation and also grieved the loss of loved ones to suicide.

Though there was darkness, pain and sorrow in her story, she found hope and a reason to keep living through reaching out to Jesus and encountering the love of God.

Below is a conversation that brings further context to “An Attempt” by sharing with you the inspiration for the piece and speaking further into the journey than a 3 minute poem ever could!
